Meet the Mendelsons
Richard and Marilyn met in France while Richard, a native Floridian, was working for a Burgundy wine shipper and Marilyn, a native Sydneysider, was teaching English in a French high school in Marseille. Later they moved to California where Richard studied law at Stanford and then practiced wine law in Napa. Richard still practices wine law part-time and has a notable client list including Napa Valley Vintners Association, Winegrowers of Napa Valley, Harlan Estate, Meadowood Resort, Auction Napa Valley, Dominus Estate and Cakebread Cellars. But he also now teaches wine law at UC Berkeley Law School, makes his own wine under the Mendelson label and runs a real estate brokerage business specializing in the purchase and sale of premium vineyards and wineries. Marilyn is an educator who directs a pre-kindergarten readiness program for Latino children in Napa Valley. Their children, Margot and Anthony, grew up in Napa. Margot is a public interest lawyer in San Francisco and specializes in prisoners’ rights and prison reform. Anthony works at Google and recently launched his own wine label, Mendo Wine. Mendo can be ordered through the Purchase section of this site.
